My Toddlers Top 5 iPhone Apps
I’ve downloaded a lot of apps for my kids over the years and after reading the article “iPhone touch for kids” I thought I’d share our toddlers favorite apps:
5. Bubbles $1.99 (Hog Bay Software)
Malcolm really likes this one. It’s super simple … as he swipes his finger on the screen, bubbles appear. He can then tap them as fast as he can. He actually taps the screen pretty hard - sometimes open handed - so I make sure I’m holding the iPhone when he’s playing this one.

4. Koi Pond $0.99 (The Blimp Pilots)
I’ll be honest. I originally bought this app to show off my iPhone when I first bought it but it has run its course through 2 kids which makes it a good buy at $0.99. Malcolm really likes pretending he’s splashing the water and trying to catch the fish. If only he’d meditate like he was supposed to ;)

3. SpongeBob Tickler $1.99 (Nickelodeon)
Malcolm really likes this one and likes to tap and stretch Spongebob around the screen. Just a note that the mini-games (i.e. Squidward’s Clarinet) are super annoying if the sound is up too loud.

2. “Jackson Pollock” $0.99 (The Mega Super Awesome Visuals Company)
My wife is a big Jackson Pollock fan and we originally downloaded this app for her but the first time Malcolm grabbed the iPhone, he went straight for this app. It’s cool because he can freeform “paint” with multiple different colors. Just note that you can export your “work of art” to your Photos so don’t be shocked when your little one drops 1000+ paintings into your Camera Roll.

1. Thomas Game Pack ($2.99) HiT Entertainment
Malcolm is a big Thomas fan so this one was a no brainer but the appeal of this app is that it’s super simple. The matching game is pretty straightforward and while there are other matching apps out there, the winner for Malcolm is the colored puzzle scramble. The train pieces are scattered on the page and he has to move them into place. When he does, the train appears, toots his/her whistle and Malcolm giggles (almost every time).
